I'm sorry I didn't post something the last few days.
To make it right here a DIY:

Stripes Ahoy! From the high seas to the haute summer streets, fashionistas have been lining up for this classic nautical look ever since French fashion pioneer Coco Chanel famously incorporated it into her personal resort style. Embraced and carried through the seasons by generations of designers from Jean Paul Gaultier to Marc Jacobs to The Row, stripes stretch beyond trend. Add a dash of DIY by re-purposing a retired T to create the perfect summer pouch with a pop of color, and show us why your motto is stripes and stripes forever!

To create, grab a striped tee, turn inside out and wrap rubber bands tightly around each sleeve. Cinch the waist, and wrap two bands around tightly for extra support. Keep in mind, the further down you gather and wrap, the larger your bag will be. Snip a 1/2” inch below each rubber band and flip fabric right side out. Find a long zipper in a fun contrasting color and secure to the opposite sides of the neck by stitching. P.S.- Reinforce stitches by sewing with thread doubled.

Don’t let superheros have all the fun. It’s time you made yourself into a caped crusader. I recently took my own advice when I spent the day with Elizabeth Holmes, who is quite the DIY queen herself, of The Wall Street Journal. I dreamt up a must-have DIY cape which infused my favorite tartan plaid and the signature silhouette i love. More behind the scenes snaPS with WSJ here!
To create, reach for your favorite cotton flannel or wool material. You will need approx. 2 yards, depending on the size you desire. First, fold material in half, horizontally. Place a hat at the top of the fold (half way down). This will serve as a neck-hole guide. Continue to cut out a 4”inch panel. Don’t throw away the scraps! Use the fabric scraps to create a strip which you can use as your belt. P.S.- add fun brooches, and group in a cluster, for a stunning finishing touch. P.S.- Watch the DIY Video HERE.

July 4th holds a very special place in my heart. I share the same name and birthplace with our beloved country, amERICA (get it!?). The historic city of Philadelphia hosted the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776 and also has stars & stripes bragging rights because of another crafty lady Betsy Ross, who stitched up our Nation’s flag there.
Celebrate Independence Day the right way and pay homage to amERICA the beautiful’s birthday with a barbecue! Think twice this year before you discard the dishes and cutlery. Round up and recycle plastic forks, napkins, a coaster, buttons and shells and declare a DIY with the help of a trusty glue gun. Secure finished embellished brooch to dresses, bags, and tops with a safety pin to sass up your style. Check out Design*Sponge for the FULL Step-by-Step tutorial
P.S.- God Bless America, and the BBQ Brooch!
